February Ipsy Bag Review

Where in the world did February go!? March always sneaks up on me…always!

In short, February’s glam bag was a total winner! For starters, isn’t that bag adorable!? I’m loving the jean material with neon orange. It’s happy, relaxed and totally content just sitting in my closet while I wait for a reason to use it. #momlife

NYX Butter Lipstick (in “LifeGuard”)

I was a little hesitant when I pulled this out of my bag this month. I wasn’t sure if the color would be for me but after wearing it a few different ways, i’m HOOKED! I keep coming back to this product. I love that it’s moisturizing, not too glossy and when my lips are prepped right, it stays on for quite a long time. I also like applying my gloss over the top right now while my lips are so dry.

Fun tip from the Ipsy tutorial: Apply straight from the tube for a super bold look OR apply with your finger by tapping lightly for a lighter, more natural look. I LOVE that I’m learning how to use makeup!

Would I buy this again? YES. NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick Ripe Berry” target=”_blank”>Check out all of the fun colors available here.

Naked Cosmetics Banana Powder

I was excited to give this powder a try after watching a few tutorials on YouTube but after a few tries I decided that it’s just not for me. I need my makeup routine to be quick and still feel somewhat natural after application so I’m not into super-contouring or layering so many products. Maybe I needed different tools as well to get the correct effect as well. Oh well, fun to try it out.

Would I buy this again? No.

the-organic-pharmacyThe Organic Pharmacy Lip & Eye Cream

I wasn’t super excited about this item when I first pulled it out of the bag. I suppose I assumed that I wouldn’t be able to see an immediate result with this kind of product. That being said, I loved that it has Frankincense and other natural oils in it! I was pleasantly surprised with how much I loved this! It makes the areas where applied feel light, bright (even tho there’s no color) and moisturized. It feels really nice under my makeup and as a bonus is a great moisturizer for my lips!

Would I buy this again? Yes. I’m interested in trying other products from this brand but they are quite pricey so it would be quite the treat! Here’s their website.

Trust Fund Beauty polish (in “I give good tweet”)

That name…haha! I wasn’t quite sure about the color and didn’t love the lip gloss from this brand last month but I was excited to try another nail polish out! The color grew on me big time and there were NO chips after a week…Wha!? So awesome! Total win!!

Would I buy this again? Yes. Excited to try some other colors soon. They have a color called “game changer” – a neon coral that looks gorgeous!

Lord & Berry line/shade pencil (#221 Black)

I watched a tutorial on different applications  (including applying to the “waterline”) before this arrived so I was super excited to give them a try. I absolutely love the texture and how smooth glides on! I’ve used it a few times without a primer and with a primer and it definitely requires a primer to prevent it from rubbing off on the lid throughout the day but it’s a winner in my book!

Would I buy this again? Yes. I’d be interested in trying their smudgeproof liner or their liquid as well. Here’s the one I got as a sample.

That’s it for now! Overall I would rate this bag with 4 stars. The bag is great, I loved all but one of the products so I’m super happy!

Want to try IPSY? Here you go! 😉

Do you use any of these products or brands? Tell me your favorites so I can try them too!

 My Beautiful Life and Yoga

Isn’t Graham so cute working out with me? He asks me everyday if we can work out. 🙂

I’m doing a 21-day “Valentine Sprint” health challenge thru Terrafit and today was Yoga day. I chose an hour long video and fell in love with Yoga! I’ve done a “power yoga” before but this was so different!

The slow fluid movements, the stretching, breathing, really “working it” without jumping around like a crazy banshee! It feels really good for my body! And surprisingly peaceful. I get why people love it! Continue reading

Barking Baby

A few weeks ago Finn started getting a wet cough and it quickly progressed into a “barking” cough. It was super scary and I was so thankful that one of my girlfriends had previous experience with this and gave me some awesome advice. I want to share the info just in case you need it in the future. (But I hope that you don’t!) Continue reading

January Ipsy Bag Review

I got an Ipsy subscription for Christmas and it’s the perfect gift! I’m a gift lover by nature so receiving a package in the mail each month is my fave! Also, I’m a mom of two littles which means that I don’t get ready 90% of the time and, when I do, I use the same stuff I’ve been using for years. The truth is, I used to feel overwhelmed by beauty products and I consider myself somewhat low maintenance, but I’m so excited to see what’s out there and play around with makeup when I take time for myself.

Essential Oils and Congestion

Before I started using oils I always felt anxious and helpless when my kids got sick.
I felt like my only option was to “wait it out” and it was awful to see my little family so miserable! Now I love that I can ease the discomfort and help the body recover quicker with oils. I have an arsenal of tools at my fingertips and I feel empowered and confident using them.

This little one woke up super congested yesterday with a ton of nasty nose “gunk”. Here’s what I used all day to help him recover quickly! He woke up this morning completely cleared up and happy! ❤ Continue reading

Happy 4th, my son!

Last weekend we threw our first “friend” birthday party for Graham! It was completely chaotic at times but it was such a wonderful day! It was everything we could have hoped for! All but one family attended, every kid got a swing at the pinata, the cake looked and tasted incredible, the weather was better than I could have dreamed up for a late October day, and while all of our recent discussions about being grateful and saying thank you may have been the furthest thing from Graham’s mind, I’m gonna go ahead and say that he did pretty good opening his many generously given gifts! ….I could have facilitated the gift opening in a better/more organized and intentional way but overall we’ll call the day a total win! Reflecting on Preschool and Imperfection

We’re trying our hand at doing a very relaxed version of preschool this year.

Last year we put Graham in preschool despite him not turning 3 until that October… we knew he was intellectually ready and we thought starting him a little early would give him an extra year to adjust and help with “socialization” since he is shy in big groups of people. (The idea of “socialization”…this is something I may write a more in-depth post on someday seeing as I now have some mixed emotions on that word.) Getting him to class just twice a week was a struggle. He never wanted to go and there were almost always tears each week…people told me, “give it a few weeks, he’ll be running in without saying goodbye.” This never happened. In the end it did more damage than good and about a month before the school year ended we pulled him out.  It was the best thing we could have done with him. Within a week we noticed some positive changes including his confidence level increasing greatly. Continue reading

My Top 10 Favorite Things About Outdoor Concerts

Dixie Chicks Concert Pics

This weekend I joined some friends at our local outdoor venue, USANA, to see the Dixie Chicks in concert. The arena was insanely packed, the entertainment was fabulous and there was lots of laughter and great conversation.

It’s crazy to think that I first started listening to Dixie Chicks over 15 years ago! Everybody sing along, “…I’m getting older, too”, but seriously. Continue reading

The Moments Between Point A and Point B

Untitled design

You know that feeling of exhilaration when you have the windows down, hair blowing all over the place, singing at the top of your lungs and life just feels good? You know…when it doesn’t matter which route you take, and hitting a red light just means one more song to get your groove on. Do you remember that feeling when it wasn’t so important to get there fast because you were truly just enjoying the ride and enjoying the company…and maybe nothing was that pressing anyways?  Continue reading
