My first page this week was inspired by a line from Baz Luhrmann’s song Everybody’s Free to Wear Sunscreen and while it turned out completely different than I originally had in mind I’m really happy with it!
My second page this week is one of my new favorites. It’s very different from all of my previous pages.
I’m in love with this page!! Like…I wish it was on a canvas so I could hang it up, in love.
That may seem silly, but, you see, what I love about the page is that it may look like I just slathered a bunch of paint all over this page and called it good, but what you don’t know is that I worked hard for this page. I pleaded for it to work, I fought with it and resisted it’s desperate pleas to be tossed into the garbage…and eventually….eventually, I painted this page into submission and ultimately made it my own.
See, I was trying to paint my emotions.
In the beginning, I tried to wrangle my emotions into tidy little colored sections with predictable movement. It was boring. The problem is that emotions are messy things, they are all-up-in each other’s business, and while sometimes I wish I was in complete control of my emotions and that I was less complicated, the truth is that I’m not…and that’s frustrating at times, but maybe there’s a bright side…
…it’s the multiple colors blending, moving and smashing together that give this piece it’s visual and emotional interest…
See, so maybe my mess of emotions just makes me really, really interesting. Ha!
But really the main symbolism here is this…
Emotions are messy.
Feelings are complicated.
…and I like mixed colors better than pure boring colors. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a great week!
